The Art of the "Slow Holiday"
Celebrate the magic of holidays of yesteryear—when kids roamed barefoot, people actually read physical books by the pool, and schedules didn't exist. We believe holidays should be as ‘screen-free’ as possible and we have put that into practise around the resort as much as we can, with custom paper maps to show you to your room, complimentary books and board games available at reception and hopefully an activity for everyone.
If you’ve been craving a getaway where you can actually wind back the clock, pour a proper drink, and leave the rush behind, here is your guide to mastering the art of the slow holiday down south.
1. Embrace the Retro Rituals
The slow holiday starts the moment you pull into your designated bay. We’ve deliberately preserved the best parts of classic Aussie motel culture, elevating them with the luxury you actually want.
Make a coffee with local Margaret River Roasting Co. drip coffee bags and enjoy on you balcony or al fresco, stop a moment and take it all in - motels were designed to look out over a pool or communal area, so most rooms enjoy a beautiful pool view.
Each room has the most recent Margaret River Tales and Trails guide, to show you the best of the area as well as some locally sourced vintage books.
2. Golden Hour on the Lawn
When the afternoon sun starts to filter through the peppermint trees along the Vasse River, that’s your cue to head outside. The Timothée lawn was designed for long, unstructured afternoons.
Challenge your favourite person to a game of bocce, or grab a racket for a friendly match of tennis. If your version of sport is strictly spectator, grab a spot by the riverbank fire pit and simply watch the sky turn pink over the water. This is the perfect spot to get into a good book, find a new hobby or simply chat to a fellow traveller.
3. The Sound & The Pour
You can’t have a proper retro revival without the perfect soundtrack and a poolside drink. To help you sink into the rhythm of the resort, we’ve put together the ultimate mini-playlist, perfectly paired with one of our drinks packages.
