Our top things to do during winter in Busselton

There is something special about winter in Busselton, the crowds are gone, the air is crisp and the sunsets are spectacular. Though winter does bring the rain, there are still warm days with blue skies and cold nights perfect for snuggling up by a fire. With temperatures ranging from 8 - 17 degrees, it is the perfect excuse to eat some good food and enjoy the undercover activities Busselton has to offer. We’ve collated our favourites below.

Busselton Jetty and Underwater Observatory

The famous little red train that runs along the jetty has all weather blinds to shield you from any unwelcome weather. The observatory may close on low visibility days but when it’s open you will be able to see the diverse display of underwater life - you may even spot Cecelia, the resident New Zealand Fur Seal who will sometimes seek shelter by the underwater windows if the ocean is a little rough. The winter tours at the Jetty also provide Virtual Reality goggles which will allow you to explore even when the conditions aren’t the best.

Forest Adventures

Feeling a little more adventurous you could spend 2.5 hours climbing, balancing, and ziplining through the Ludlow Tuart Forest on one of the South West’s most exciting outdoor adventures. Open Thursday - Monday, 9am - 5pm, add some adrenaline to your crisp winters day.

Saltwater

Recently opened Saltwater an all in one convention centre, art gallery and performance space. They regularly hold new and upcoming Art Exhibitions with artist talks and art after dark - where you can enjoy live music and drinks from the Saltwater bar. Check out their 'What’s on’ page before you plan your stay to see if you can get into one of the many comedy or musical performances they hold.

Go Whale Watching

Between June and December, you can spot the humpback whales right from the shoreline while they migrate. For your best chance of spotting head out to Cape Naturaliste about 35 minutes from The Timothee Resort. If you want to get up close and personal from September you can jump on a whale watching tour from Port Geographe Marina only a 5 minute drive from the resort.
