Behind the lens: Tigerlily shoot
When iconic Australian resort wear brand Tigerlily was searching for the backdrop to launch their latest Spring collection, they were looking for a location that felt equal parts sun-drenched nostalgia, effortless luxury, and coastal calm.
They found it right here at The Timothée Resort in Busselton and we could not be more excited to invite them in.
Our palm-fringed pool and tranquil Vasse River lawns transformed into a high-fashion set. Here’s a look behind the scenes of the shoot.
Founded in 2000 in Sydney, Australia, Tigerlily is widely known for delivering the ultimate holiday wardrobe. Think bold earthy tones and ocean-inspired bikinis and imagine this with the backdrop of our retro motel. Tigerlily Creative Director Simone Coates, grew up in Perth and holidayed near Busselton when she was young. Her idea was to pull from the rugged south west coastline for their collection.
In an interview with Busselton Dunsborough Mail, Simone Coates describes her motives behind the shoot. "We wanted to shoot Busselton and the Timothée in a way that hadn't been done before, and let the resortwear really live alongside our swim," she said "Being born in Perth myself and holidaying as kids down near Busselton, I pulled the palette straight from the landscape. The ocean blues, sun-bleached sand, warm terracotta. Our spring collection is signature Tigerlily... all with a slightly more relaxed, grown-up feel. It's designed to move from the pool at the Timothée to the beach to a bar without missing a beat."
In classic Busselton winter behaviour, the crew were starting at 5am and not finishing until 8pm to try and dodge the rain. You would never know that stunning model, Kristina Mendoca, was shooting in bikinis by the pool in 10 degrees at 7am (lucky the pool is heated!)
We’ve popped a couple of our favourite pictures from the shoot below.
